SWK – rigid shaft couplings
A rigid shaft coupling is a torsionally rigid shaft-hub connection for the transmission of a torque and/or the transmission of axial forces from a shaft to a hub.
The rigid shaft coupling can be designed as a shaft-hub connection, as a one-part or multi-part press fit.
The rigid shaft coupling offered by Weiss Spindeltechnologie is the so-called hydraulic press fit. The use of hydraulic technology allows this type of shaft-hub connection to be assembled and disassembled multiple times. In a one-part press fit, a thick walled hub with a tapered hole diameter is pressed on a shaft with a tapered outer diameter using hydraulically driven tools. In a multi-part press fit, a thin walled sleeve with a tapered outer diameter and a cylindrical bore hole is located between the hub and the shaft.
A rigid shaft coupling is used as a flange at the gear shaft or as a shaft coupling in ship building and plant construction to connect shafts in a torsionally rigid manner. It is also used as a mounting flange for a flywheel on the crankshaft on large diesel engines as well as a mounting hub for a hydraulic or mechanical vibration damper system on crankshafts of large diesel engines. Weiss Spindeltechnologie from Maroldsweisach produces rigid shaft couplings for various applications. Whether as a shaft coupling in ship building and plant construction or as a flywheel flange or hub for mounting of hydraulic or mechanical vibration damper systems on a crankshaft of a large diesel engine.
